Glasgow made a dreadful start against Ospreys at Hughenden tonight, conceding a try to Shane Williams in the first minute, and they were down 9-26 coming up to half-time. But they pulled back so well that they were level at 26-all on the hour before going to take a stunning victory.

Nothing wrong with professional rugby in Scotland when Glasgow can produce such a comeback against a team who had travelled north intend on closing in on the Magners League title.

Dan Parks kicked 19 points as well as scoring Warriors’ first try just before half-time. He converted that to cut Ospreys’ interval lead to 26-19, and early in the second half he slotted his fourth penalty.

After 59 minutes Glasgow sent on Colin Gregor to replace Graeme Beveridge, the scrum half who was playing his last home game for Warriors. He departed to a standing ovation from the crowd, and within a minute the Glasgow fans had all the more reason to applaud as Graeme Morrison dived over in te right corner. Parks converted from the touchline to draw the scores level, and six minutes later he put Glasgow ahead for trhe first time with his fifth penalty goal.

Ospreys notched three tries in the first half-hour, one by Lee Byrne and a second by Williams. James Hook converted only one, though he and Shaun Connor each kicked a penalty goal.

Three Parks penalty goals were Glasgow’s only responses, but just as half-time was approaching Beveridge broken from halfway from his own tapped penalty. That sparked a furious phase of recycling before Parks dived over for his try.

His conversion cut the visitors’ lead to 10 points. That was enough of an incentive for Glasgow. They dominated the second half agains the championship contenders.
