Glasgow Hawks Rugby Club Canniesburn Care Home

MESSAGE FROM OUR LEADER

To the players who took us to Hawks 3rd Scottish Cup victory in 5 Cup
Final appearances - Thank you. Not just the 22 at today's final but to
the entire squad that got us there. The performances throughout the
campaign will give us many opportunities to reminisce in the future.
Doon the watter to Greenock, fun at Berwick, a very special performance
against Heriots and then the demolition of Stew/ Mel. All of that before
we had that nail-biter against a stuffy West team. Today saw some
spectacular rugby with Fitzy's lung-buster and the magnificent lead-up
to Ally Maclay's try the highlights. But a victory in a major final
should never be easily won. Their power and defence was impressive at
times - but they could not match the Hawks.

To our coaches (all of them) - what a magnificent progression there has
been over the season. We had to recover from a migration of players but
you have welded a team together that now promises great things for the
future. Their exciting ability to keep the game flowing, while being
able to cope with stuffy forwards, is a reward for your hard work.

To the supporters - I looked around at the sea of red today and thought,
"Let's have every home game as a cup-final." You were magnificent, and
noisy and able to humble the Morningside brigade. I know the players
loved it.

To the buffties - Many thanks to all for the season-long commitment. The
amount of unseen work is huge - with nothing but the odd thanks at the
end.

It is, truly, a team effort that gets us days like this. Well done to
all.
I'm off to bed now as we travel to Caldy for the 7s at 6.30am (please
don't forget guys!!)

Kenny Hamilton,
Chairman, Glasgow Hawks.

Ken.
