Glasgow Hawks Rugby Club Glasgow Hawks Rugby Ball 2014

HODGIE MATCH MESSAGE FROM CHAIRMAN

My thanks to all who have already helped promote this match and its
charitable objectives. I wondered if you would help by giving it one
last push before Friday?

Following the tragic death of Hawks player and Marine Craig Hodgkinson
whilst he was playing rugby for the Royal Navy in November last year,
his parents, the Royal Navy and Glasgow Hawks Rugby Club have come
together to
organise a major charity event on 18th May. (Attached is a copy of the
poster for the event).

Few of us would be aware that at least 8 "fit and healthy" young people
(aged 35 and under), die every week of undiagnosed cardiac conditions in
the UK. The net proceeds from the day will be targeted at increasing
awareness
of the number of young fit people who die suddenly each year and to
support activities, which will play a part in reducing the number of
such avoidable deaths including the provision of defibrillators and
training in their use at
sports grounds and public venues.

Activities on the day will include Navy displays, a sponsors' dinner,
a rugby match between Glasgow Hawks and the Royal Navy and a number of
after match activities, including a grand raffle draw and ceilidh
dance.

The event is now becoming very high profile with a number of senior
figures from the Royal Navy and public life to be in attendance.

We are, of course, keen to encourage a large turn-out for this
celebration of Craig's life and to raise funds for the charitable
purpose set out above. Any assistance you can provide in encouraging
attendance and publicising the event is greatly appreciated.

Kenny Hamilton, Chairman, Glasgow Hawks.
