Tough start for the Warriors

Glasgow skipper Alastair Kellock thinks the Warriors opening fixtures will give players an opportunity to impress
Glasgow Warriors face a tough start to the new seasonwith two consecutive trips to Wales at the beginning of the 2007/08 Magners League campaign.
The campaign opener against 2006/07 league runners-up Cardiff Blues, on the weekend of 21/22/23 September, will provide the Warriors with a stern test before they travel to Swansea to take on The Ospreys, the current holders of the league trophy.

The Warriors then enjoy a run of five home games as Connacht, Leinster, Munster, Ulster and Cardiff Blues all visit the Warriors’ new home in Glasgow’s West End, Firhill.

Taking a break from his Rugby World Cup preparations with the Scotland team, Glasgow captain Alastair Kellock said: “The opening two games will be a big opportunity for those not involved in the World Cup to stake their claim for a Glasgow jersey.

”It’s a tough start but the following run of home games is fantastic for our supporters to get used to our new home at Firhill.”

Warriors assistant coach Shade Munro added: “The start of the season will be a great challenge, but it’s our home games that are the bread and butter for success in the Magners League.”

The Warriors European fixtures will be announced on Friday.
