HATRICK FOR MUFFLES

Scotland captain Jason White relished his return to international rugby as Frank Hadden's team beat Ireland.
White returned from a serious knee injury sustained last autumn against Romania to enjoy the 31-21 victory in the World Cup warm-up at Murrayfield.

"It's great to be back," White told BBC Radio Scotland.

"We had probably our best first half for a very long time. Ireland came back into it strongly in the second half, but we finished the game off."

White reserved special praise for Andrew Henderson, who claimed a hat-trick of tries and had some other happy news last week.

"It's great for Andy Henderson," said the captain. "He's become a father and now he's scored a hat-trick, excellent."

White expected Ireland to make a game of it, so was not surprised when Scotland came under pressure at times.

"Against a team like Ireland, you're not going to have it all your way for 80 minutes," said White.

"They're a good team, a proud rugby nation and they're always going to come back, but it's great to win, get back to winning ways."
