GHK MATCH REPORT

Strathclyde Police 8 GHK 19

GHK recorded a 19 points to 8 win over Strathclyde Police at Lochinch to open the new league campaign.

It wasn't the best of starts however, conceding a penalty within three minutes but ten minutes later, from a chip ahead by Ali Forbes, Cammy Little touched down and converted for a 7 points to 3 lead.

Forbes then turned from provider to scorer with a determined break from a ruck five metres out; Little converted for 14-3.

GHK were guilty throughout of handling in the ruck and it came as little surprise that Ali Scholey was invited by the referee to enjoy ten minutes rest and recuperation on the touchline. During this period the Police forced their way over for an unconverted try.

With half an hour gone, Peter Broadbent scored in the corner following some excellent interplay between forwards and backs giving GHK a 19 points to 8 lead at half time.

Then there was the second half; lots of toil and endeavour by both sides but nothing to show for it.

No bonus point but on the plus side some excellent debut performances in senior rugby from Cameron Brown, Dale Perry and Greg Woolard.
