GHK MATCH REPORT

GHK 13 Waysiders 32

Not as bad a game as the result suggests with GHK holding their own against much bigger and more experienced opposition until well into the second half when three tries in quick succesion ended their challenge.

Waysiders opened the scoring in twenty minuted with a converted try from a rolling maul driven over in the corner. Both sides exchanged penalties then, just before half time, Chas Mcfarlane charged down a clearance kick allowing Adam Johnstone to touch down under the posts. Bill Criggie converted for 10-10 at half time.

Fifteen minutes into the second half Waysiders drove over from short range (10-15) and followed up five minutes later with a well worked move for a try in the corner (10-20). Another five minutes, another try for Waysiders making the scoreline 10-25. GHK responded with a Bill Criggie penalty but all hopes of a comeback were dashed when Waysiders scored a converted try five minutes from time making the final result 13-32.

A deserved victory for Waysiders but GHK can look forward to better times when more players are available.

Next week sees Strathendrick visit Old Anniesland. kick off 3pm.
