Strang in a hurry to go far with Heriot's
COLIN RENTON
Currie 27 - 32 Heriot's
HERIOT'S stand off Murray Strang has tipped the Goldenacre men for success - and he is desperate for it to come soon.

The 25-year-old, who moved from Glasgow Hawks in the summer, made his first appearance for the Capital club in Saturday's engrossing 32-27 Scottish Hydro Electric Premiership victory over champions Currie at Malleny Park. But the result was only one cause for Strang to celebrate. The man, who is described by his coach Bob McKillop as the "best Scottish-born No.10" in the league', was also pleased to complete his recovery from an illness that kept him out of action for eight weeks.

"I was involved in all the pre-season games and as soon as the league started I had to step out," explained the man who steered Scotland's club international side to a win over their Irish counterparts earlier in the year. "So I'm pleased to come though this match."

As a newcomer to Goldenacre, he is impressed by the set up at a club he believes is well-placed to challenge for honours. "There is a really good atmosphere", he said. "I came from Hawks and I could never complain about Hawks - it was a massive club with a really good atmosphere as well.

"But I haven't been disappointed by Heriot's. It was a big decision to join them. It's a club with a big future - hopefully this season.

"I work in Edinburgh as a chartered surveyor, I commuted to play for Hawks for about four months then it got too much so I made the move."
