A try from Grant Anderson helped Ayr to another narrow win
Edinburgh Accies produced a thrilling late fightback against Ayr at Raeburn Place - but it was not quite enough to stave off a 21-20 defeat at the hands of the Seasiders.
Grant Anderson and Florian Marin snapped up the Ayr tries in the Premiership Division One clash, while new signing from Hamilton, Kenny Diffenthal marked a positive debut with the remainder of the points in kicks.
Chris Kinloch and Matt Couper went over for Accies at the death to at least rescue a bonus point, with the remainder of their counters coming from the boot of David Blair.
Glasgow Hawks suffered another alarming dose of the jitters as they were toppled 41-31 by Watsonians at Old Anniesland in Premiership Division One.
Both sides claimed a four-try haul - but Andy Skeen bettered Mike Adamson in the kicking battle.
Mike Ker, Rohan Steyl, Malla Mailo and Ally Rowe scored for Watsonians, while Kenny Sinclair, Sean Murray, Gavin Mories and Adamson broke through for Hawks.
Skeen's three conversions and four penalties compared decisively with Adamson's single conversion and penalty treble.
Nervy champions Currie had to come from behind to edge out Premiership Division One basement boys GHA 33-25 in a Malleny Park thriller.
It was not until Andy Hutt ploughed over deep in stoppage time that the home side were sure of their success, or a bonus point.
Their other touchdowns had come from Jonny Smith, Jim Taggart and Steve Burton. Smith also kicked two conversions and three penalties.
GHA, who led at the break, had tries by Chris McKay, Rory Watson and Chris Binnie, along with a series of accurate strikes from James Noonan.
