Edinburgh Duo Get Call-Up
Scotland have called up Edinburgh Eagles duo Andy Todd and David Lynn from the A team to play in the full international against France in Perpignan on 27 October. Coach Steve McCormack is expected to rest star players like Danny Brough and Andy Henderson ahead of the Wales clash and give opportunities to several of the uncapped players in his provisional 28 man squad.
Centre Todd, from Renfrewshire, has captained Scotland A this season and only missed out on a full cap last year through injury. Second-rower Lynn, from Napier University, has been a stalwart for Scotland Students over recent seasons and stepped up to the A team last summer.
None of the players involved in the recent play-off series have pulled out through injury leaving McCormack a full hand to deal from. Brough and Henderson instigated Castleford Tigers' triumph over McCormack's Widnes Vikings in the NL1 Grand Final but the rivals will come together for Scotland's benefit. Brough, who is to join Wakefield Trinity in Super League next year, was voted NL1 Player of the Year by his fellow players last week.
Scotland now know what they will have to overcome if they are to take their lace at the Rugby League World Cup in Australia next year. Wales have named Bradford Bulls star Iestyn Harris and Warrington's Lee Briers along with 11 members of NL2 champions Celtic Crusaders for the clash at Glasgow Hawks on Sunday 4 November.
Wales need to beat Scotland by more than seven points after suffering a shock 21-14 defeat in Bridgend last year.
