Scotland’s rugby league coaches trained the Glasgow Hawks on Tuesday
night ahead of Sunday’s rugby league international at Old Anniesland
when Scotland take on Wales in a World Cup qualifier.
Dave Rotheram and Paul Kidd (head coaches at Workington and Swinton)
took the start of Tuesday night’s session after discussion with
Hawks’ coach Davy Wilson and pronounced themselves very impressed
with the players - “Davy’s got a lot of talent to work with here”
said Rotheram “that’s a fit squad with bags of skills and impressive
athleticism. A lot of union clubs are taking rugby league
techniques for their defensive gameplans, however, I think Alan Tait
had a point in a newspaper article a few weeks ago when he pointed
out that a rugby league style attack might suit the Scottish game.”
Dave and Paul extended an invite to the Hawks coaching to join them
this week in the Scotland training camp at Largs.
The games against Wales kicks off at 2pm on Sunday at Old Anniesland
and is pay at the gate. Adults £5, Children £1.
