Glasgow Hawks stepped up their revival with a hard-fought derby triumph over GHA - but the Braidholm success was overshadowed by a serious-looking neck injury to Gordon Macfadyen.
Play was suspended for almost 20 minutes early in the second half to allow medics to strap on a special brace and carefully move the Hawks man to a specially adapted stretcher.
The players were ushered to the changing room by guest English referee Dale Newitt and Macfadyen was then taken by ambulance to Glasgow's Victoria Infirmary for scans.
Hawks had bossed the game before the break after breakaway forward Ally Maclay burst through for a try with just one minute on the clock.
Mike Adamson slotted the conversion and added three penalties to give the visitors a comfortable 16-point cushion.
GHA refused to buckle, however, and they were unlucky not to at least snatch a draw.
Rory Watson claimed their first touchdown five minutes after the restart, with Andy Rushforth's try bursting the contest wide open following the departure of Macfadyen.
