Waterway for a former Lion and friends to raise cash

FOUR intrepid kayakers will be braving the Forth & Clyde and Union canals this month in order to raise money for two Scottish charities.

Former British Lion and Scotland rugby international John Beattie, sports presenter Dougie Vipond and BBC sports department colleagues Katie Still and Jim Mason will attempt to paddle 58 miles from Bowling in Dunbartonshire to Edinburgh in just over two days.

They aim to raise cash for the Waverley Care Aids/HIV support service in Edinburgh and the Marie Curie Cancer Care Hospice in Glasgow

The challenge is scheduled for June 25 and 26.
