A BOROUGHMUIR bid to have Scottish clubs entered in second tier-European rugby competition has found further support from Glasgow Hawks.
Writing in Hawks' latest programme under a headline 'Boroughmuir for Europe?' chairman Kenny Hamilton said that entering the eventual champions had to be better than a club select and assuming a London-based Celtic League team could not be made ready for 2008-09.
"Scotland hope to have three teams in Europe. It is [now] necessary to maintain the financial contribution.
"Financial support should be provided from European income. Will we need to adjust our season? - yes, but if there is a willingness to find solutions, we can.
"Will they struggle? Possibly, but as the Italians can confirm, you have to start someplace. If it starts to inject a bit of ambition back into Scottish club rugby then I am all for it," said Hamilton
