GHK beat Moffat 67 - 0 at Old Anniesland on Saturday to maintain their league challenge - a good day at the office. Davy Whyte opened the scoring in 5mins, we then contrived to go round in ever decreasing circles for the next 17. Note from President – please do not make this a habit – I have got to keep Jimmy from going into orbit, you will all have gathered by now he is only happy when we are scoring.
Colin Donald got us back on the rails, although Bill Criggie, not wearing his pink wristbands this week, missed both kicks.
Greg Woolard then scored a great try 3mins later which Bill converted – By now Jimmy is almost smiling.
Robbie Stewart decided to start his afternoon of fun and burst through to score the first of his 3 tries, Bill converted HT 24 – 0
Second half started and a masterful bit of team management saw Stu Rankine come on and score in 2 mins Bill laddered his tights again and missed the conversion.
Jimmy is smiling now. Oh dear ! Sleep time for the next 18mins – smile gone.
Thank you Hugh Parker and Bill – sanity restored and 5 mins later Craig G scored the best try of the match, converted by Bill.
Robbie and Craig scored their second tries in rapid succession so after 72 mins we were at 55 – 0
Craig Bennie scored in 76mins by skinning his opposite number and for some reason I missed, Craig G converted.
Final try from Robbie in the last minute made the score 67 – 0
It has to be said that although it was fairly one way traffic, Moffat never gave up and played the game in a good spirit and the periods that we were struggling to score were perhaps due to Moffats attempts to get back into the game rather than our lethargy.
Lots of fines in the bar afterwards, Robbie I suggest you see your old man about a bank loan. Three tries – expensive. Trying to pass the ball UP McT’s left nostril – whilst providing the biggest laugh of the afternoon – pricey. But being taken away to Edinburgh by your girlfriend BEFORE the court was convened – GNP of a small African nation !
