Wilson hails legend Hay as Boroughmuir net award

BOROUGHMUIR manager Grant Wilson today dedicated their award as Club of the Month to the late Meggetland stalwart Bruce Hay and hoped it would galvanise the players to go on and complete their title quest.
The prize came ahead of 'Muir entertaining Glasgow Hawks and the citation from Scottish Rugby said the performances of the entire club had been a fitting tribute to double British Lion Hay, who died last month aged 57.
Wilson, announcing a two-change side with Ben Fisher and Dave Cunningham returning at No.8 and hooker, said: "That's spot-on and gives lift off to planning for the next 20 years.
"That began on Monday with a workshop which saw members discuss eight aspects of management from playing to sponsorship to operating our gymnasium and bar.
"All parts of the club are on a roll and the award comes in a week when a presentation will be made on Saturday to our P6s, who are in a third season unbeaten."
Understandably 'Muir are refusing to get carried away by a 15-point lead at the halfway stage of the season even though Hawks boss David Wilson looked ahead to the clash by saying: "How many games left until Boroughmuir are uncatchable?"
If Wilson, who is able to recall second row Alan Kelly and former Scotland wing Rory Kerr, was trying to induce some complacency then there was no doubting his sincerity in highlighting areas that must be tightened.
"When we lost to 'Muir by two points at home, the game hinged on three interception tries we conceded," Wilson said. "An improvement there is a must along with solid first-up tackling on a day when the pressure might just be building on unbeaten opponents."
Elsewhere, Edinburgh Acads await Melrose while Currie entertain Dundee High with an unchanged side for the first time this season. Heriot's head for Hawick aiming to make it five wins in a row after beating Watsonians, who are at GHA.
