Glasgow's Colin Gregor and Richie Vernon have been named in the Scotland 7s squad for the first two legs of the IRB Sevens World Series in Dubai (UAE) and George (South Africa).
Coach Stephen Gemmell said: “I’m pleased with the balance of the squad. We’ve got a lot of young players who put their hand up for selection in Singapore where they performed well.

“Having Richie Vernon, Scott Newlands and Colin Gregor released from the pro environment is a boost for us. Colin has a huge amount of experience with 17 Scotland 7s caps and that will prove invaluable to us.” Colin, 26, last represented Scotland in the final two World Series tournaments last season in London and Edinburgh.

The Scotland 7s squad, sponsored by Murray, will train for three days this week at Murrayfield before flying out to Dubai on Monday.

The culmination of this season’s IRB circuit will once again be the Edinburgh Emirates 7s at Murrayfield on 31 May and 1 June 2008.
