GHK MATCH REPORT

Loch Lomond 3 GHK 16

A victory at Loch Lomond is never easy to achieve; for such a young GHK team to do so is testament to their effort. All played well but special mention to John Mills and Scott Cameron in the front row who stood up against much heavier opponents.

After one minute Loch Lomond opened the scoring with a drop goal but GHK responded with a Bill Criggie penalty after five. On twenty five minutes, after a series of good drives by the forwards, Craig Gossman dived over in the corner for a try. The first half ended with GHK leading 8-3.

Two minutes into the second half Bill Criggie landed a penalty to make the score 11-3. Danny Hoffman then received the first yellow card of his career, rather harshly awarded for a marginally high tackle. There then followed a sustained period of Loch Lomond pressure but the depleted GHK defence held out, due as much to strength of character as strength of body as a score at this point could have seen the balance of the game change. Instead it was GHK who rounded off the scoring; another in a series of fine line out takes by Pete Broadbent released McT on a run for the line which he crossed carrying two Loch Lomond defenders with him.

A good victory to take us into the festive season when we welcome Melrose to OA on Dec 29 - a good turn out from players and supporters is expected for this traditional fixture.
