Sale Sharks beat Leicester Tigers 20-14 in a tense encounter at Edgeley Park before a capacity crowd of 10,872. The six-point difference was reflected by the penalty count: 5 out of 7 for the Sharks' kickers Charlie Hodgson and Luke McAlister, whereas Andy Goode sent just three out of seven between the posts. Rory Lamont scored the home ide's try wo minutes before half time, but Johne Murphy replied in the final phase of the first half
