'Muir chief's call to fans

BOROUGHMUIR president Stan Watt today urged fans to put club before district as a potential clash of Capital rugby fixtures looms early in the new year.

In a fixture allocated at the beginning of the season, Boroughmuir could be in a position to lift the Scottish Hydro Electric Premiership were they to beat GHA at Meggetland on January 12 (3pm). Meanwhile, after television partners stepped in on December 17, it has been arranged that Edinburgh will play a Heineken European Cup match against Leicester at Murrayfield when pride will be at stake for the hosts (3.30pm).

Watt said: "I would hope our fans turn out to lend support against GHA."

Watt, though, made it clear nothing would be taken for granted about 'Muir's visit to Hawick a week earlier when a bonus-point victory would set up the title bid against a GHA side who have to be formally asked to move from the standard 2pm start, normal for teams without floodlights.
