Scotland Under-21 coach Iain Paxton has made one change to the team that beat Wales 43-25 on Tuesday in the semi-final of the fifth-eighth play-off in the IRB Under 21 World Championship.

Ayr prop Stuart Fenwick comes into the starting line-up in place of Aberdeen GSFP’s Stuart Corsar. Paxton and his management team have studied the Argentineans’ form and he admits that the change is designed to counter the physical impact of the hosts.

He said: “They’ll come at us hard up front – there’s no doubt about that – so we have decided to use Stuart Fenwick from the start as we feel he’ll take more early on and then we’ll bring Stuart Corsar in late on as an impact player.

“We have to play rugby against Argentina. We don’t want to get drawn into a set-piece game because that won’t be good for us. Our selection has been fairly consistent throughout the tournament and we’re confident we have the necessary cover on the bench,” he added.

Scotland are playing for fifth or sixth position in Saturday’s match but no matter what the outcome the young Scots know they will finish top out of the home nations.

It is a physically and mentally challenging tournament for the players as by the end they will have played five matches in 16 days. Paxton said: “The boys are in reasonable shape and they are getting on with it. We have had a light session today but the focus and concentration are on mentally preparing for the game.”

Stand-off David Blair (hamstring) and Alan MacDonald (shoulder) were not considered for selection due to injury.
