FROM OUR ITALIAN COACHING GURU

Bosh! The Dynamic Power Step
Iain Monaghan, a skills coach at Viadana, the Italian professional club, talks about "Bosh!", his variation of the more traditional power step.
In my version of the power step, the ball carrier must first fix the defender and then attack the space to one side of them. The ball carrier's next step is to get their inside foot outside the defender. For example, if attacking the space on the left of the defender the ball carrier's right foot is placed outside the defender's right shoulder as in the illustration.

The power step is the "next step". That is the pivot step which takes the ball carrier beyond the defender. It is an explosive step away from the tackler and beyond the tackle. It gets the ball carrier partially free from the tackler and in a good position to offload the ball.
How to perform the dynamic power step
1. The ball carrier attacks the space to the side of the defender.
2. The ball carrier places his inside foot on the outside of the defender.
3. The explosive power step takes the ball carrier beyond the tackler.
4. The ball carrier then has the option to offload the ball, present it on his terms, or continue his run.
