COUNCIL APPOINTS MEMBERS OF THE SCOTTISH RUGBY BOARD

The first meeting of the Scottish Rugby Council took place immediately
after the Scottish Rugby Union\'s Annual General Meeting on Friday 24
June for the purpose of identifying the nominations for the Scottish
Rugby Board, the new governing body. In accordance with the Dunlop
Report regarding the governance of Scottish Rugby the selection of the 4
members to represent the Council on the Scottish Rugby Board was made
democratically by the full Council.

The following appointments were made:

Chairman of the Council Andy Irvine (Heriot\'s): President
Vice Chairman of the Council Norman Douglas (Selkirk): Scottish
Borders
Board Member George Clark (Boroughmuir): Premiership Division 1
Board Member Archie Ferguson (Lenzie and Dalziel): National Leagues 1-
4
Board Member Keith Wallace (Haddington): Premiership Division 2

Andy Irvine, George Clark, Archie Ferguson and Keith Wallace are
therefore appointed to be members of the Scottish Rugby Board. Norman
Douglas, as Vice Chairman, is not a Board member.

Commenting on the appointments Andy Irvine, President of the Scottish
Rugby Union and Chairman of the Scottish Rugby Council, said: \"These
appointments provide a neat balance between past experience and new
blood. This will ensure that both continuity and new ideas form the key
ingredients for decision making about the future of Scottish Rugby.

\"I look forward to working with my newly appointed colleagues to
deliver the vital changes that our game is crying out for. As I have
already made clear the task is not an easy one but I am confident that
the appointees that we are announcing today will be equal to that
task,\" he added.

Message from George Clark
Mike, many thanks to you and to all the P1 Club representatives for
their hard work, which has ensured that at long last we have a voice at
the top table. I am in no doubt about the magnitude of the task which
now awaits the new Council and the Board members, but I am relishing the
prospect and will do all I possibly can to represent the views of the P1
Clubs at the highest level.
All the best
George.

Well done to George , P1 and Ken especially for a mountain of hard work
and
thought, its been a hell of a long journey
Here's to the future
Mike Dalgetty
