HAWKS LOSE AT MILLBRAE

The Seasiders completed the league double over Hawks whose season of misery continued at Millbrae.

Ayr struck the first blow when Kenny Diffenthal slotted a sixth-minute penalty for hands on the deck.

But Hawks replied quickly and in positive fashion with a well-worked try by winger Marc Davids.

The initial damage was done on the other flank by Max Evans and Rory Kerr before the hosts ran out of defenders when it mattered.

Defences were on top until just after the midway point of the second half when Ayr surged in front.

Julian Montoro made the important break with Colin White taking the ball up to the line.

Despite being held, he expertly flipped the ball to No8 Glenn Tippett, who plunged over to set up a tense finale.

A drop-goal and penalty by Diffenthal completed another day of gloom for Hawks.
