On behalf of the Glasgow Accies players I write to thank those of you who came out yesterday to support the boys. Apart from Boxing Day and the cup tie against Heriot's it was the largest crowd of the season. We know this because the gate takings were twice the average.
I hope you feel you were well rewarded as Accies probably produced their best display of the season to gain a 4 try bonus point victory. This means that in two weeks they have picked up 9 out of a possible 10 points and scored 7 good tries in the process. There is no doubt that your support is a huge encouragement.
The league position is that we now lie in 4th bottom place tied with Caithness. Allan Glen's are relegated.
Despite the fact that we are 11 points ahead of them we could still be caught by Grangemouth as they have 5 games to play to our 2. Of the 5 games they have to play us next, a week on Saturday at Grangemouth, followed by away trips to Caithness and Highland, neither of which is easy, especially Caithness as they are not totally out of the relegation zone. Technically Grangemouth would need to win three of these and we would need to fail to gain a point for them to overtake us.
The prospects are looking good and this is down to a huge effort by the players over the last 6 weeks. They are fitter, more organised and more focussed than they were in the early part of the season.
Winning is massive shot of adrenaline and you could feel it in the Clubhouse after the game. At 6-30pm it was still buzzing with players and spectators reluctant to go home.
With no home games left please come to Grangemouth and the Forrester the following week. It would be nice to finish the season with four victories.
I also wish to thank the 16 people that turned out for a most enjoyable lunch. Hopefully next season we can make more of a feature of these pre-match lunches.
