A controversial try from Thom Evans proved the difference as Glasgow beat Heineken Cup finalists Munster.

Keith Earls was obstructed from getting a tackle in but play went on and Evans won the chase to his own grubber kick.

That 67th-minute score put Glasgow 21-13 ahead with Paul O'Connell diving over for a late Munster try.

Earlier Lome Fa'atau and Dougie Hall got touchdowns as Glasgow went 14-0 up before Anthony Foley capped his final home appearance for Munster with a try.

It was a fifth straight league win for Glasgow, something the club had not achieved since the 2001/02 season.

They looked the hungrier and their opening 17th-minute try was a deserved one.

A Colin Gregor kick bounced away from the retreating Denis Hurley, giving Gregor the chance to gather and put Fa'atau in close to the posts.

Parks added the conversion and Glasgow crossed the Munster line again, six minutes later.

Winger Ian Dowling's attempted quick line-out throw was gleefully intercepted by hooker Hall who bounded over for his first try of the season.

Munster replied in the 33rd-minute when Foley was spotted by Peter Stringer as he lurked on the blindside and the number piled over in the left corner.

Ronan O'Gara converted and he also kicked two out of four penalty attempts.

Munster had a try ruled out in the 57th-minute - replacement David Wallace thought he had scored but the effort was scratched out for interference from O'Connell.

The game's major talking point arrived ten minutes later. As Glasgow attacked on the left, Earls was clearly obstructed by James Eddie from getting a tackle in.

Munster looked to referee James Jones for a whistle but it never came and Evans won the race to his own grubber kick to score.

Television match official Trevor Collins ruled that Evans had successfully squeezed over in the left corner.

Munster saw red but all they could muster in reply was O'Connell's 80th-minute effort.
