ACCIES coach Ian Barnes has been elected to the Scottish Rugby Council as the representative of clubs in the Scottish Hydro Electric Premiership Division 1.

The former Scotland second-row forward won by nine votes to three against George Clark (Boroughmuir), the existing council member who had sought re-election.

Barnes will take up his post with effect from Scottish rugby's AGM at the end of June.
