Daunting test for Under-20s

SCOTLAND face an awesome task today when they take on the Junior Springboks in their second Pool B match of the IRB Under-20 Championship at Wrexham. South Africa, seeded two in the championship behind New Zealand, represent a formidable force as they showed in Friday night's first-round match against USA by achieving a 108-18 win.

Coach Colin Robertson appreciates the team's task. "They're very physical and outstanding in quality across the field. Fifteen of their squad have been involved in Super 14."

Only four players, Paul Louden, Chris Kinloch, Richie Gray and Steve Burton who started against Samoa, will line-up for a second game.

Scotland Under-20s: M Allan (Loughborough University); T Bury (Boroughmuir and National Junior Academy), P Loudon (Durham University), S Wilson (Dundee HSFP), C Kinloch (Edinburgh Academicals); J Murray (Leeds Carnegie and Edinburgh Academicals), R Samson (Newcastle Falcons); A Dixon (Aberdeen GSFP), N Shannon (Aberdeen GSFP), L Niven (Edinburgh Academicals), N Patrick (Dunfermline), R Gray (Stirling County), S Burton (Currie), L Calder (Stewart's-Mel, capt), J Baird (Watsonians). Subs: A Duncan (Stewart's-Mel), G Strain (Glasgow Hawks), J Stafford (Hillhead/Jordanhill ), C Simmonds (Heriot's), P Jericevich (GHA), R Jackson (Glasgow Hawks), P Horne (Howe of Fife)
