SCOTTISH RUGBY ANNOUNCE LEVEL 3 COACHING CERTIFICATE

Following the successful roll out of UKCC Level 1 and Level 2 Coach Education courses, Scottish Rugby is pleased to announce the launch of the new Level 3 course aimed at coaches who are keen to further develop their coaching skills within a team environment.

The course is a significant step up from UKCC Level 2 and a fantastic opportunity to develop coaching skills to an advanced level.

Candidates are expected to possess prior knowledge and application of the following:-

" Player and team profiling
" Video analysis
" Goal setting
" Match analysis
" Periodisation
" Presentation
" Development of game plans
" Team ethos.

Qualification Outline
The course consists of 5 modules, 3 of which are delivered face-face, and two as home study. The course lasts between 9 months and a year. The course is a mixture of practical and classroom based activities. Candidates will be expected to be active during the course to enable micro-coaching opportunities within the candidate groups. The certificate is awarded by the SQA. (Scottish Qualifications Authority)

Prerequisites
The candidate must be aged 18 years of age or over and hold a UKCC Level 2 or SRU Level 2 Step 2 qualification or be working towards an SRU Level 3 qualification . The candidate must demonstrate evidence of regularly attending recent coach development courses, updates or coaching conferences & must have a current commitment to coaching within or managing a rugby union team or programme. Coaches must also hold a Disclosure Scotland certificate.

Assessment
Assessment is competency based allowing you to be continually assessed and receive support and action planning throughout the course. Candidates should also fulfill the home-study tasks. Coaches will also be externally assessed twice in their own coaching environment.

Application
Candidates should fill in the accompanying Level 3 application form and return to The UKCC Coaching Administrator at Murrayfield no later than 25th September 2008. Application forms MUST be accompanied by a cheque made payable to Scottish Rugby for �295 (inc vat). Assistance for course fees may be available through your local Sports Council or Coaching Network development officer.
