Hawks Summer Camp 2008
The first ever Glasgow Hawks Summer camp is well under way. It started bright and early on Monday morning at 8:30 AM and will finish tomorrow at 4:30 PM.
There are 60 boys at the camp aged 8 16, and so far we have covered skills such as handling, defence, teamwork, ruck and maul.
Each morning starts with the boys getting a light breakfast followed by a skills / technique rugby session. Then the boys come in for a warm lunch provided by Alan James, this is followed by compulsory rest for 45 minutes. It is then back out to the pitch for rugby games based on what they have learned.
At the end of the day the boys then come in to fill out there daily diary of what they have learned and to receive a Hawks goodie at the end of the day and so far have got a water bottle, boot bag and bennie hat.
The boys are split into three groups and each group has a leader in charge of them. The Group leaders are:
Group 1 Matt Bull / Lindsey Smith
Group 2 Richard Trew
Group 3 Gregor Boyd
Along with the leader the boys have also received coaching from Peter Wright, Fergus Wallace and Grant Talbot. There have been no serious injuries to report as all the boys have been treated by Hawks physio Gemma Scott.
More updates and pictures from the camp will follow.
