Shade Munro, the assistant coach of Glasgow Warriors, believes his side's 26-21 win against Castres in France was a success on all fronts.
Mark McMillan marked his debut with the clinching try after the Scots had looked destined to be edged out in the opening tie of the XV Vaquerin Challenge tournament but Munro was quick to hail the efforts of his whole squad.
"It was a positive exercise from an experimental point of view," he said. "Around 25 players were involved. They all got a decent amount of game time and everyone contributed to the win.

"It was also an opportunity to try out some of the new law changes, a chance we wouldn't otherwise have had.
"Ultimately, it was a very satisfying result which we achieved without some of our international players."
Chris Kinloch, the Scotland sevens specialist, scored the first try, converted by Colin Gregor, before Daryl Gibson, the outgoing player-coach, battled his way over the line. Gregor again added the extras with Hefin O'Hare recording the third try to leave the Warriors two adrift at 21-19 going into the final stages.
The scrum-half McMillan, newly recruited from Wasps, then squirmed over for the decider, converted by Gregor.
