Glasgow Accies 2nd XV ultimately had a comfortable win against Hyndland 1st XV at New Anniesland by 54-5 on Tuesday 19th August. The pace of Accies backs and overall fitness told in the end against the Glasgow District League side.
In the first half the Hyndland pack put in a superb performance and denied Accies the use of the ball for long periods. Their technique of short passing amongst the forwards as they moved up the field was highly effective and it contributed to their score that pegged Accies back to 14-5 at one stage in the second quarter. They also scrummaged better than Accies throughout the game.
The Hyndland problem was when they lost possession Accies recycled it to good effect creating spaces that Accies quicker backs used to their advantage.
it was a good workout for both sides and should benefit their fitness as they move toward the league campaign.
Accies scorers:
David Miller 2 tries
John Dillon 1 try
Jamie Williamson 1 try
Paul White 1 try
Cruz 1 try
Alan Wilson 1 try
Ali McLaren 1 try and 7 conversions
