Scottish Rugby announces today (Thursday 14 July) the appointment, with immediate effect, of the Chairman of the Scottish Rugby Board and his three fellow Non-Executive Directors. The Appointments are:

Commenting on the appointments Andy Irvine, President of Scottish Rugby and Chairman of the Scottish Rugby Council, said:
“I am delighted to announce the appointment of Allan Munro as Chairman of Scottish Rugby, who, together with the new CEO, whose appointment we expect to make shortly, will lead Scottish Rugby under the new corporate governance arrangements. I am also delighted that the three Non-Executive Directors we are announcing today have agreed to join the Board. Their collective experience, notably in business and rugby will prove invaluable.”

Allan Munro
Allan's business career spans 38 years, predominantly with Ivory & Sime, from where he retired as Managing Director in 1999. From 1999 to 2002 he was Chairman of US owned marketing business DraftWorldwide (Edinburgh). In 1989 he joined the Board of Forth Investments plc, which owned Hibernian Football Club and led the defence of Forth Investments from the bid by Heart of Midlothian FC. Allan, 57, has been Executive Chairman of Stewart's-Melville FP RFC since 2001. He is also Chairman of Edinburgh Sports Club. Allan served as a Non-Executive Director of Scottish Rugby from 19 January 2005 as part of the interim arrangements.
Fred McLeod
Fred, a chartered accountant, began his business career at the Marshall Group of Companies in 1962, being appointed Company Secretary in 1975 and Finance Director in 1979 to 1989. In 1990 became Bursar – Erskine Stewarts Melville Governing Council. Fred is extremely well known in rugby circles, initially as a player - Stewarts College FP, as a Committee Member - Edinburgh District and President of the SRU – 1996/97 season. He has served on numerous international rugby bodies and recently, in January 2005 assumed the position of Interim Chairman and CEO of Scottish Rugby.
Tom Inglis
Tom was chairman of the UK Ford Dealers Council between 1998 and 2001. Between 1987 and 2001 he was chairman and chief executive of Strathford Motor Group, which as a Ford and Jaguar dealership had a turnover in the region of £30 million per annum. Tom, 64, was elected president of Helensburgh Cricket and Rugby Football Club in 1996 and remains in office. During this period the rugby club has progressed from the bottom of the regional leagues to BT National League Division 3. In 1998 Tom was heavily involved in the club’s successful sports lottery funding application which enabled new changing rooms and clubhouse improvements to take place. Previously he was involved as player, committee man and president of Ayr RFC. Tom served as a Non-Executive Director of Scottish Rugby from 19 January 2005 as part of the interim arrangements.
Brian Kennedy
Brian’s business career began as a trainee at the Royal Bank of Scotland moving to Melrose Drover as Trainee Accountant. In 1980 he joined Moben Kitchens and became a Branch Manager at the age of 20. In 1984 he was appointed Operation Director of Farouche Kitchens and in 1989 established the Weatherseal Group, having bought the assets and trading name of Weatherseal Windows. In 1999 Brian raised £42 m of funding to buy Everest and CDW Group from Caradon Plc.
In addition Brian formed Genesis Communications, which also became a Scottish Rugby sponsor. In 2002 Sale Rugby Club was acquired and was followed by the formation of Cheshire Sports Promotions which included both Sale Rugby Club and Stockport County Football Club. In April 2002 Duraflex, a subsidiary of CDW was sold to Masco for £30m followed in May 2002 by the sale of Genesis to Dixons Group for £31m and in September 2004 the disposal of Scotplas for £6m to SIG.
