CLUB ROUNDUP

West of Scotland got back to winning ways with a 22-12 win over Hawick at Burnbrae.
West's points came from a Robert Harley try converted by Peter Horne with the young full-back also kicking five penalties. Glasgow coach Sean Lineen has identified Horne as a signing target for next season.

Glasgow pros Richie Gray and Richie Vernon were in action for West.

Ayr continued their impressive opening to the new season with a 47-14 victory over Watsonians at Millbrae.

New Zealand-born fly-half Frazier Climo was in the points again with a try, four conversions and three penalties. Ayr's other points came from a Damien Kelly double, Wilson, Paul Burke and Andy Dunlop.

It was good to see Burke and Dunlop on the scoresheet as both players are returning to action this season after nasty injuries.

Rookie Glasgow pro Calum Forrester was in Ayr's squad.

Glasgow Hawks season goes from bad to worse with a 73-10 thumping from an experienced Boroughmuir at Meggetland. The young Hawks team's only points came from a Stevie Gordon try converted by Mike Rainey with the stand-off adding a penalty.
