Rory Kerr grabbed West's try
West of Scotland got back to winning ways with a 13-7 win over Heriot's at Burnbrae.
The Edinburgh side drew first blood at Burnbrae with a second-minute touchdown from Struan Dewar, goaled by Graham Wilson.

But West ruled the roost for the remainder of the tussle, thanks mainly to a great display by substitute midfielder Connor Davies.

He set up their only try for Rory Kerr and banged over a three crucial kicks.

Glasgow prop Jon Welsh was in action for West.

Glasgow Hawks broke their duck with a tense 26-25 victory over Currie at Melleny Park.

The visiting defence was outstanding, but they also cashed in on a shaky kicking display by Jonny Smith.

Andy Jackson and Graham Harkness went over for Hawks, while Steve O'Donnell landed four important penalties.

The Currie tries came from Dougie Fife, Ross Weston and Smith (2). But the latter could only convert one penalty and one conversion from a spate of chances.

Ayr stepped up their quest for a first ever Scottish Hydro Electric Premiership Division One crown by outgunning stubborn Stirling at 22-16 Bridgehaugh.

The seasiders surged ahead with an opportinist try by A Wilson after just five minutes but they had to wait until the build-up to the break before their second touchdown was claimed by Glasgow pro Calum Forrester.

Between times, Stirling carved out plenty of chances but they were let down by basic handling errors and poor decision-making.

All they had to show for their efforts at the halfway stage was a penalty double from Brian Archibald.

The rest of Ayr's points in the opening period had come via the boot of Frazier Climo, who slotted a penalty and conversion.

Archibald narrowed the gap with his third penalty six minutes after the restart but the decisive blow was struck by Ayr when Wilson notched his brace.

County salvaged a consolation bonus point in an incident-packed finale as referee Rob Dickson awarded a penalty try for persistent infringing close to the line. Archibald added the extras.
