Glasgow Hawks 42 Stirling Co 8: Hawks take off in fine style

A SECOND successive win has got Hawks' season up and running while County, still looking for a success, remain at the bottom.
The first chance fell to County in the second minute but Brian Archibald's penalty just faded away. A minute later, Hawks No.8 Gavin Strang put in a tackle that produced a penalty on the Stirling 10-metres line that Steve O'Donnell stroked home. In the 11th minute, the County backs were penalised for offside and, from the same spot, O'Donnell was again successful.
County were unable to maintain possession and in the second quarter Hawks surged ahead. From a five-metre scrum, Strang sent Ian Noble over by the posts with O'Donnell converting.
Four minutes before the break, winger Jono Wright was released on a long run that culminated with a clever behind-the-back pass for Steve Gordon to score. O'Donnell converted and added a penalty to close the half with Hawks 23-0 up. It was more of the same from Hawks in the second half, with Jono Wright, Adamson and Gavin MacDonald touching down, County only managing a Graham Calder try and Archibald penalty in reply.
