The Scotsman writes
TWO quick tries immediately after the restart were enough to swing this basement battle the way of the Borderers, although a spirited late fightback by Hawks earned them a close-losers bonus point, and with a bit more composure, they might have nicked it.
A poor first half saw the sides turn at 6-6, two Scott Wight penalties for the visitors being matched by one each from Stevie O'Donnell and Mike Adamson.
Winger Callum Anderson appeared outside Wight to take a short pass and release Jordan Macey for the opening try. Wight converted and within four minutes a crafty lineout ploy released Scott McCormick to the line.
Hawks hit back with a Craig Gossman try from Adamson's break, but a second converted Macey try gave 'Rose a comfortable lead.
With the visitors going for a try in stoppage time, Adamson intercepted to scamper clear, and with the conversion he closed the gap to four points.
