RORY lAMONT WHO JOINED HAWKS FROM NORTHAMPTON IN AUGUST HAS WON HIS FIRST CAP AGAINST WALES ON SUNDAY
HE PLAYED FRVHAWKS PRE SEASONIN SEVERAL MATCHES INCLUDING THE MANSELL CUP
HAWKS WISH RORY AND THE REST OF THE SQUAD TO BEST OF LUCK FOR SUNDAY
The 45th set of brothers to play international rugby for Scotland will take to the field at Murrayfield on Sunday when unbeaten Wales come visiting in the RBS 6 Nations Championship.
Twenty-two-year-old Rory Lamont will win his first cap as he joins older brother Sean – man of the match in Scotland’s last outing against Italy – as the only change in Scotland’s line-up. The Lamonts will thus become the 19th set of brothers to have played together in the same Scotland team. The debut for the younger of the siblings is a hard call on Edinburgh Rugby’s Simon Webster who was recalled deservedly to the starting line-up for the international against Italy last month on the back of some stirring Celtic League displays.

Bruise brothers out to vanquish Welsh dragon
BILL LOTHIAN
SCOTTISH rugby will today hand their heavyweight "bruise brothers" the task of out-muscling and finally running the Welsh out of town in Sunday’s vital RBS Six Nations Championship clash at Murrayfield.
Among those lining up for the Scots will be debutant Rory Lamont on the opposite wing to older brother, Sean, capped ten times.
And the pair will have massive roles to play, specifically Rory, as he goes head-to-head with one of Wales’ top performers in this year’s championship, the speedy Shane Williams.
But for all his experience and try-scoring exploits in the red, three-feathered, jersey nothing can change the fact that Williams stands relatively slight, his 12st 2lbs spread over a 5ft 7in frame.
Contrast those statistics to those of the Lamont sibling who is 6ft 1in and 15st - just like his brother.
Similarly, on the opposite flank, Rhys Williams stands 5ft 10in and 13st 13 lbs which can only mean one thing - Scotland are seeking to employ a physical approach this weekend.
If anything can explain the shock omission of Simon Webster when the team is announced later today then it is coach Matt Williams’ determination to use his heavy brigade.
I expect the Scots to target any narrow channels occupied by Shane Williams and, for all that his rise has been meteoric given he did not merit being registered for Glasgow’s European Cup campaign, Rory Lamont will be expected to run hard and fast under what will be a barrage of high, hanging kicks.
Slippery, elusive, unpredictable. All these adjectives can be applied to Shane Williams but if he can be put on the back-foot, then all sorts of promising possibilities open up for "Steamroller Scotland".
In his brief Glasgow career - Rory has only played a handful of senior games - what he has impressed critics with is his ability also to take the high ball on the run.
If the Lamonts can position themselves under the cross-field examination that is likely to be mounted by their stand-off club-mate, Dan Parks, then Scotland could hit the Welsh for six before they even have time to get their bearings
