Shug,
Just to let you know we summited Kilimanjaro on 2nd November and are currently on R&R on the Indian Ocean. I've not had a chance to update the website because we went staright from Mount Kenya to Kili and then straight to Mombasa to celebrate.
We reached the highest trekking point on Mount Kenya (Point Lenana) on 26th October and attempted the technical climb of the highest peak (Batian) the following day. We had climbed about half way up (300m) but had to turn back due to the icy condition of the route. We were very disappointed because we had been climbing strongly and all of us had agood chance of reaching the summit, but we were happy that we'd given it our best shot.
We then moved straight to Kili and climbed it in only 4 days. On our summit day we were up at 3 a.m., and climbed 1,000m to reach the summit at around 08:30. We then descended 4,000m that day to reach the park gate in the late afternoon, totally exhausted.
I'll write a proper diary to update our website soon but we're enjoying our post-expedition celebrations and resting our weary bodies. I've attached some photos to give you a flavour of the last couple of weeks.
Cheers,
Ricky
