On Saturday, Andy, Fiona and sons Milo and Angus leave Scotland for Australia. After nearly ten years, they have decided that they cannot take any more rain and that Queensland's Sunshine Coast is a better place to live than Glasgow. Strange.
On behalf of everyone at Glasgow Hawks, I would like to publicly thank Andy for his contribution to Hawks rugby at various stages over the last ten years.
Initially, Andy came to Glasgow along with Gavin Walsh and Eugene Martin in season 1998-1999 and made an immediate impact at No.8. Anyone who played with him, or who watched him play, recognised that he was a player of real quality and helped Hawks to the 2000 Scottish Cup final with a memorable 60-point victory over Gala at Netherdale in the semis a highlight.
He then left to play a season in Japan before returning to Glasgow to play a couple of seasons with GHA. It wasn't too long before he was back at Hawks this time as a member of the medical team. Over the last couple of seasons he has proven to be an excellent physiotherapist who will be missed.
Best of luck, Plas, but don't think we won't be quick to pin you down on Hawksnation when KP leads England to Ashes glory next summer!
Safe home.
