Bishopton 7 GHK 105

With the pitch at Bishopton waterlogged, both clubs agreed that the game should be transferred to the big pitch at OA with an early kick off to allow all to watch the international.
We got a taste of things to come right from the start with a characteristic Disco breenge setting up a good attack. Superb hands from Danny H to Gun whose strong outside run was finished off by an excellent charge over the line by Andy McT – 5 – 0 after 3 minutes.
The forwards were dominant throughout but nowhere more so than in the line out with excellent jumping and clean possession from Darcy and Andy Drummond.
Robbie Stewart converted a penalty after one such strong forward move – 7 minutes gone and 8 -0.
Mike Borthwick had a storming game and after a pick up off his toes a well timed pass set up the second try for Greg Woolard 13 – 0.
Not too long to wait till Mike B did the same again this time handing on to Danny to break through and give a lovely scoring pass to Davy Whyte in 31 minutes with the conversion from Robbie 20 – 0.
By now the guys had got the message that simple movement of the ball would bring rewards and Mike Borthwick, Rory Love and Gun combined nicely 25 – 0. Robbie converted. This was swiftly followed by the Mikes – Aird and Borthwick - combining to get another converted try 34 – 0.
Half time was approaching but still time for another lovely handling move - Robbie, Danny, Davy and Rory going in at the corner. So half time and 39 – 0. Game over as a contest.

The second half continued where we left off and the first try of half came from Danny after a good break from the expectant Davy Whyte. 46 – 0
Highlight of the half was Disco lurking on the wing receiving quick ball from Mike Aird and charging over for a try duly converted by Robbie 53 – 0.
Mike Borthwick got well deserved try after another couple of minutes and a lovely break from Andy Fleming.
Davy had to be satisfied with giving the scoring pass after lovely break. A tap tackle brought him up short but Robbie was on hand to do the bizzo and also the conversion 65 – 0.
Again the backs cut through the Bishopton lines at will and more superb handling and a lovely pass from Gun put Andy Fleming in for another try 70 – 0.
Josh Mihill replaced Robbie Stewart and nipped in for a try after Davy’s break leading to the bizarre spectacle of Disco taking and getting the conversion 77 – 0. Much rubbing of eyes from the Presidential posse!
Fair play to Bishopton they would not lie down and were rewarded with a converted try. 77 – 7
Normal service resumed shortly with a lovely break by Josh from deep in our 22 setting up a scrum well inside Bishopton 22. Good quick ball to Rory who gave Andy Fleming the scoring pass converted by Robbie 84 – 7.
More of the same gave Rory and Danny more tries and finally a great break by Gordy Reid (replacing Mike Aird at scrum half) bagged the final try and conversion and end of score fest.

Final score 105 – 7.
