ADAMSON OUT OF DUBAI SEVENS

THE HERALD REPORTS

Roddy Grant, the West ofScotland flanker, will captain the Scotland Sevens squad in the opening two rounds of the IRB World Sevens Series in Dubai and George, South Africa, writes Alan Lorimer.

Grant, who was raised in South Africa, takes over from the injured Scott Forrest, Scotland's inspirational sevens captain of the past twoseasons. Forrest was ruled out after breaking his ankle while playing for Ayr. Also missing from the regular line-up is the playmaker MikeAdamson, who broke his collar bone in the Singapore Sevens last month.

The Scotland squad will contain three players new to World Sevens: Ashleah McCulloch, the Aberdeen centre, Struan Dewar, the Heriot's flanker, and Rory Hutton, the highly promising Hawick stand-off.

Scotland, playing as the Scottish Thistles, warmed up by winning the Singapore tournament last month. In Dubai they are in a pool with South Africa, Kenya, and the hosts, Arabian Gulf. A week later the Scots will travel to George for the South Africa Sevens.
