A Few Thank Yous

Hawks Nation,

As the headline says, last night was a good night for the club. On behalf of the Board of Directors I would like to pay tribute to the players for putting in a enormous amount of effort on the pitch and a group of dedicated volunteers who put in a huge amount of work off the pitch.

Anyone who watched the the game last night will acknowledge that West of Scotland are a good, physical side. To overcome that, all 20 players in the Hawks jersey gave everything they had and, to use an old sporting cliché, left nothing on the pitch. The performance last night reminded me why the club means so much to so many people - 100% honest commitment and a desire to win. Many congratulations, lads. Enjoy your weekend off.

Off the field I would also like to say an enormous thank you to the following people.

Colin Kerr for looking after the committee room bar and the sponsors upstairs. This is an extremely difficult job, so many thanks, Colin.

Alan and Anne James and their staff for once again providing outstanding service to the match sponsors in hospitality.

Mark McIlfatrick and Gordon McCallum for manning the gates. Not surprisingly, we took our biggest gate of the season last night. For the record, Kevin Ferrie's estimate of the crowd is not close to the real figure of 1,100 - 1,200.

Chris Breckenridge, Sean Murray and, Paddy Boyer for manning the raffle.

Dave Millard for his professional match announcing on the PA system. Dave puts a lot of hard work and preparation into the announcing and collects the raffle money and sells merchandise so thanks again, Dave.

Charlie Forsyth for helping me set up the stand lights prior to the game.

Finally, Colin Mair for agreeing to lend Hawks his High School of Glasgow Pipe Band before the game. This brought a wee bit of theatre to the occasion. Thanks, Colin.

Everyone at Hawks knows we still have a lot of hard work to do on and off the pitch so I look forward to seeing you all next week, staring Monday, or how about coming down to support the 2nd XV at New Anniesland this afternoon, KO 1:00 PM.

Cheers,

KB
