HIGHLAND coach Hugh Mackintosh believes his backs must perform if they are to defeat fourth-placed Glasgow Academicals in the National League Division 2 at Canal Park tomorrow.

The Inverness men are nearly back to full strength after having a rest week last Saturday and will have a strong back line for the game which kicks off at 12.15pm.

Mackintosh was in optimistic mood ahead of the match.

He said: “Glasgow Accies are a good team, but we are quietly confident going into the game.

“We should certainly not be far away.

“It is a game we are certainly aiming to win and I am confident we can with the team we are going to put out.

“We have a more settled squad of players and we are desperately hoping the game goes ahead and that conditions don’t deteriorate.

“We will have one or two more players available for tomorrow and stand off Chris McLure will come back in.

“Our centres Michael Whiteford and Tam Magowan will be back as well, Rory Cross is coming back into form on the wing and Jonny Wylie got another game at full back last week.

“We will also have Vincent Johnston, from Fort George, on the wing, he will make his debut.”

Stand off Euan Mackintosh will be back on the bench after being out with a knee injury for the past two years.

Scrum half Andrew MacKay is out injured for the next two weeks and youngster Craig Irvine, 17, is expected to play tomorrow, although flanker Jamie McLaren is unavailable
