ACCIES UPDATE

Good morning everyone,
I am pleased to say that, this Saturday, now the touring sides have departed we can get back to normal Saturday rugby and normal kick off times. It is four weeks since Accies last played at New Anniesland and it will be a pleasure to be back at home again, this time against Greenock Wanderers.
Wanderers used to be regular visitors but since the start of the leagues our paths have not crossed except at 7's. The kick off is at 2-00pm and we will be pleased to welcome our sponsor members for afternoon tea after the match.
We have had mixed success since our last home game when we beat Newton Stewart 31-0. Firstly we went down 10-6 to Kilmarnock in a game that was there for the taking. Secondly we went to Inverness last Saturday and came away with a good 21-0 win over Highland. We now lie in fourth place in the table but have to rely on the teams above us dropping points if we are to stay in the promotion race.
On the team front the news is that Gareth Williams has returned from a summer playing rugby in Canada and is restored at full back and Andy Jackson is back from a spell at Hawks. Unfortunately our Kiwi centre, Ryan Moseby, has had to go home as his father has hurt his back and there are 4000 lambs about to arrive. He hopes to come back next season. It is a pity as he had settled in well, after his injury in the first game of the season, and added some potency to the back division.
The good news is that we have greater strength in depth this year than for many seasons in the past and we have a number of young players starting to break through to the 1st XV.
I hope that you can come on Saturday to give the boys a cheer.
kind regards
Alasdair Graham
