Glasgow Hawks Youth Development Programme

Welcome to all Hawks Junior Rugby players and supporters for our last home game of 2008 against Currie. The players have commented on how much noise you make during the games, so please shout the boys onto another victory today.

Today the Under 15s are playing in a Scottish Cup tie against Dundee Eagles, this will be the fourth time of trying to get the game played, so hopefully it will be Hawks that progress to the Quarter Finals where a home tie against Gala will be their reward. The Under 13s and 14s are both away to Marr RFC today which will complete their fixtures for 2008.

The Development XV has played two games to date this season against Christ’s College from New Zealand (14-10 Win) and the Scottish Exiles Under 20s (27-18 Loss). 2009 will be an exciting time for the Hawks Development Squad as we have games against Edinburgh Accies, The Royal Navy and Viadana.

On top of this the boys will be going to Perpignan from 3rd April – 15th April to experience training similar to a professional rugby player.

The Glasgow Hawks community programme continues to grow from strength to strength, we are working very closely with the local schools and communities to deliver rugby to all of our local children, there will be some exciting and new projects being launched in January 2009 which will again put Glasgow Hawks at the front of rugby development.

Today’s mascots have both been chosen from the Glasgow Hawks community programme which is another way that we are working with the local schools and local community. The mascots today both come from Garscadden Primary School.

Our last player profile for 2008 will be second row man Allan Kelly. Allan has represented Scotland at all age grade levels and was a apprentice professional with the Glasgow Warriors.
