TO-DAY'S GAME--ACCIES V GHK
May we, in w~lcoming Accies to-day, take the opportunity of wishing all
our Friends, Members and Patrons, the compliments of the Season and every
good wish for the (Coming Year.
That said - what can be said about our Visitors from over the fence,
which might be ac,ceptab1e in print? ? ?-
Shall we wish them well, sitting on top of the Division II League Table?
Shall we hope that they go up a Division next season; so that we can beat a
D-ivision J side? - Shall we leave the beating of them till we meet them i~ a
League Game on 10th March 1984? Or should we just continue beating
them in evei-y game? ?
Difficult choi~es for our boys, because all of Our Visitors are such nice
chaps! - Young Alan Ker (Captain! - what a awesome responsibility?), Old
Brian Ker (The C~ptain's older brother!), Mr McNaughton (The Team
Minister), fv1essrs. llonar & Scobie (caught when tile amalgamation of Accies
and Stirling County failed!), Donald Neilson (caught when the amalgamation
of Accies and Jordanhill failed!), Ian]arvie (ex-High School stock!), Young
Beattie and his mU,ch older brother, ]ohn(did the latter actually chicken-out
of last years Xmas.Day game?), - to name but a few players ....
Then there's their Coach, Colin Guthrie - what a delightful fellow! Their
mascot - Tony Walker, their man in charge of burglars and visiting guests D.
avid Millar; B.A. Mann (at least, that's what he keeps on saying!);
Rory Duff (No relation of Plum!)j]immy the Pye (In charge of everything!
Now retired?); Forrest McLelland and evelyone else who works at
BrownIees?
What a delightful collection of decent fellows, and we wan111y welcome
them all to this traditional Kelvinside Rugby Club Xmas Day,fixture - now
to be held on Boxing Day (No loose interpretations allowed from either
side! !)
We hope that we shall witness a good healthy game of Rugby, free from
League pressures, which, so often, tighten a game up to such an extent, that
it goes flat!
"And so they ran on to the field, and using their cudgels, did knock the
stuffing out of each other - while ranting and raving in wild confusion -
When does the Bar open ??" McGonigle.
