Coaches Corner

Good afternoon folks and welcome to Old Anniesland for this Premier 1 game v Boroughmuir and a warm welcome to Eamon John and his troops for what I hope is an enthralling match this afternoon.

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year and by the way some of the players were standing in the corner at our first training session back, bent double with their hands on their knees speaking to Hughie, it seems they did!

The festive period was made a lot better with our fantastic result against Currie, coming back from 0 – 20 at half time, a half in which we actually played pretty well at times, to going on to win 33 – 20, with a 2nd half display that showed Hawks, with a wee bit of confidence, can actually play some fantastic rugby both tight and wide.

Now is the time to carry that belief on. Including today’s game, we have five massive games coming up which will determine where we end up and I have no doubts that if we play with the same passion, aggression and skill as we did against Currie then we will all have big smiles on our faces by 8th February.

Good to see one of my old clubs here at Anniesland today, a club of which I have many and great fond memories but that was all in the past and today I hope we can avenge the result from the first game when we were soundly beaten by Boroughmuir.

I would also like to welcome Eamon today, a good friend and someone I have coached with in the past – if you get a chance ask Eamon to do his bottle trick, always brought a smile to my face and no it’s not rude!
