The British women's hockey team brought the Australian Youth Olympic Festival to a dramatic climax as they humbled the hosts in the final, taking the gold with an extra-time golden goal set up by Glasgow Beijing Olympic team member Laura Bartlett.

The British girls came from 1-0 down, went 2-1 down, but levelled in the final minute of a match played in 30-degree heat in the Sydney Olympic Park Stadium.
