Sevens squad in training
THE Scotland Sevens squad gather this morning for a three-day training camp as preparations intensify ahead of the next two tournaments on the IRB Sevens World Series – in New Zealand (6-7 February) and the USA (14-15 February).
Head coach Stephen Gemmell describes his assembled squad as a competitive outfit with plenty of sevens experience.
"The challenge for these players is to take advantage of this week's opportunity to put their hands up for a Scotland 7s jersey," stresses Gemmell. "We've got real competition for places and have a squad with a good balance of pace and power."
Scotland sevens training squad: Mike Adamson (Glasgow), Tom Brown (Edinburgh Accies), Kevin Bryce (Stirling County), Tom Bury (Boroughmuir), Colin Gregor (Glasgow), Andrew Easson (Edinburgh), Roddy Grant (West of Scotland), Graham Hogg (Hawick), Jamie Hunter (West of Scotland), Rory Hutton (Hawick), Roland Reid (Edinburgh), Scott Riddell (Blaydon), Colin Shaw (Glasgow), Marc Teague (Edinburgh), Andrew Turnbull (Edinburgh), Richie Vernon (Glasgow).
